The WATA honored its award winners at the 41st Annual Meeting and Symposium at the Potawatomi Hotel in Milwaukee, WI on April 17th. Inducted into the WATA Hall of Fame was Larry Sayles, ATC, LAT. Chris Geiser, Scott Doberstein, MS, ATC, LAT and John Ochsenwald, MS, LAT were presented with the Outstanding Educator Award. The WATA also presented Andrea Patterson of UW Eau Claire the Founding Fathers Scholarship, Jamie Destache of UW Stevens Point and Brandon Yach of UW Oshkosh the Mueller Undergraduate Scholarship, and Beth Kinslow, MS, LAT the Jeff Oliphant Post Graduate Scholarship.
The WATA honored outgoing Board of Director, Keith Owsley, who has served as the WATA Vice President for two terms.
Congratulations to Michael Deal, Brandon Yach, and Dan Meyer from UW Oshkosh for winning the GLATA Quiz Bowl in Wheeling, IL March 11-15.
The WATA would also like to recognize Steph Fall, ATC, of New Richmond High School, who was awarded the NATA Gatorade Secondary School Athletic Trainer Award.

The WATA in conjuntion with the Wisconsin EMS Association has issued a press release dealing with the Pre-Hospital Care of the Cervical Spine-Injured Athelte. The release contains links to video demonstrations as well as the NATA Position Statement.

The 2011 WATA Fall Symposium is titled Core Concepts for the Hip and Spine. The continuing education event will be held at the Stoney Creek Inn in Onalaska, WI on Saturday, November 5, 2001. Six CEU's will be offered with the course from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. More details will be posted soon. Licensed Athletic Trainers from around Wisconsin are headed to Appleton, WI today for this years WATA Annual Business Meeting and Symposium. The meeting begins today and will run through Saturday featuring a variety of continuing education seminars, athletic training student program, annual business meeting and the WATA Awards Banquet on Friday evening.
