Here are a few highlights of the upcoming program: 

  • This year’s speaker for the Jeff Oliphant Memorial Keynote Address is Michael Clark, MS, DPT. Clark is the founder and CEO of Fusionetics and is regarded as one of the top experts in human movement science. He will be providing both a lecture and a break-out session on Thursday afternoon.
  • Join us for the Welcome and Research Reception on Thursday evening to see the latest research from the AT students and WATA members. Complimentary drinks and hors de oeuvres will be provided.
  • Programming will include: sessions on the pediatric athlete, the vegan/vegetarian athlete, hands-on workshops for casting, evaluation, and treatment techniques; ACL updates; dry needling, mindfulness and more.
  • The WATA Annual Business Meeting and Lunch will be on Friday April 13th.

Learning Objectives for the WATA 2018 Annual Meeting:

Participants will be able to appraise and apply current evidence in order to:

  1. Analyze the efficacy of emerging and traditional therapeutic interventions in athletic training and develop appropriate interventions for patient-centered outcomes.
  2. Apply current best practices in the evaluation of pediatric injuries.
  3. Select and implement strategies to prevent injuries through effective functional evaluations and evidence-based strategies.
  4. Evaluate the importance of mindfulness and culturally competent care in the practice of athletic training.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Cancellation and Refund Policy: If a pre‐registrant cannot attend the symposium for any reason, they may notify the WATA in advance by sending an e‐mail to and will receive a full refund if notification is on or before March 29th, 2018. After March 29th, refunds will be made minus a $50.00 fee. No refunds will be issued after April 1st, 2017.
